Spotify & music

Skill plays Spotify songs and albums in your voice channel, along with YouTube, SoundCloud and Deezer. Paste a link or just type the song name.

Playing music

;play <song or link> — add to the queue
;play next <song> — play it right after the current song
;search <song> — pick from Spotify, YouTube Music, Deezer and SoundCloud results

Song names are looked up on Spotify first, so you get the real release instead of a cover or a sped-up upload.

What works

  • Spotify songs and albums: paste the link.
  • Spotify playlists: Spotify stopped letting bots read playlists in 2026. In the Spotify desktop app, open the playlist, click a song, press Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C, and paste after ;play. For big playlists, paste the links into a .txt file and send it with ;play.
  • YouTube, YouTube Music, SoundCloud, Deezer: songs, albums and playlists.
  • Spotify artist pages and podcasts: not supported.

The player

Every song posts a player with buttons: previous, pause, skip, shuffle, loop and stop. Only people in Skill's voice channel can use them. If the chat gets busy, the player moves back to the bottom; if it's deleted, it comes back.

Radio and extras

;radio drake — the artist plus similar artists, nonstop
;radio drake only — just their top songs
;radio genre hip-hop — any genre or mood, like drill, phonk or lo-fi (;radio genres lists the stations)
;radio top — the top songs right now
;radio drake, phonk — mix up to 4 artists and genres in one radio
;radio me — from your Last.fm top artists
;radio me, @friend — blends your Last.fm with a friend's
;musicstats — this server's most played songs and artists
;autoplay on — keep adding similar songs when the queue ends
;lyrics · ;save (DMs you the song) · ;preset (sound filters)

DJ role

With ;setdj @role, only that role (and Manage Server) can pause, stop, seek or change the queue. Everyone else can still add songs and votes to skip. Whoever queued a song can always skip it. ;setdj none removes it.

Common issues

  • "Join a voice channel first": join one, then run the command.
  • A song fails: Skill tries another upload, the official recording, then SoundCloud by itself.
  • Non-music parts skipped: SponsorBlock skips skits and sponsor bits in YouTube videos. ;sponsorblock off turns it off.
