Privacy Policy

This explains what Skill (the Discord bot and skillfulbot.com) stores, why, and how to get it removed. Skill only sees what Discord shares with bots in servers it has been added to.

What we store

• Discord IDs and names. User, server, channel, role and message IDs, and usernames, display names and avatars as Discord provides them. These are needed for any feature to work.
• Recent messages. The text of messages in servers using the bot is kept for up to 14 days, so deleted or edited messages can be shown in logs and with snipe commands. Message times (not text) are kept for 30 days for activity stats.
• Activity. When you last chatted or were in voice, time spent in voice, levels and XP, and which commands were used. Servers use this for leaderboards, analytics and inactivity tools.
• Moderation records. Cases, warnings, mutes, jails, bans, name changes, the roles you had when you left a server (so staff can restore them), and members removed by prunes.
• Things you set up or take part in. Economy balances, game scores, reminders, birthdays, time zones, AFK messages, marriages and family links, booster roles and their colours, giveaway entries, tickets and form answers, suggestions, confessions (stored with the sender's ID so server staff can act on abuse), tags and your linked Last.fm username.
• Server settings. Everything admins configure, such as welcome messages, log channels, automod and antinuke.
• Dashboard login. When you log in with Discord we receive your account details and the list of servers you're in (the identify and guilds scopes). The session is stored until you log out or it expires. Changes made on the dashboard are recorded with who made them.

What we don't do

• We don't sell or rent your data, and there are no ads.
• We never ask for your Discord password or payment details.
• We don't read direct messages except commands sent to the bot.

How it's used

Only to run the bot's features for the servers you share with it: moderation, logs, leaderboards, games, reminders and so on. Server staff can see the data their server's features produce, such as logs, cases and activity.

Other services

Some features send information to another service to work:

• Link previews send the link you posted to TikTok, X, Instagram, Bluesky, Reddit or Twitch (or a public service that reads them) to fetch the post.
• Image search sends your search words to an image search provider.
• Last.fm features use your Last.fm username with Last.fm.
• Discord handles everything sent through the bot, under Discord's Privacy Policy.

How long it's kept

Message text: 14 days. Message times: 30 days. Everything else is kept while it's needed for the feature, including after the bot leaves a server, until it's deleted by a server admin, by you where a command allows it, or on request.

Your choices

• Opt out of having your avatar used in Guess the Avatar with ;gta optout.
• Remove your own entries where a feature allows it, such as reminders, AFK, birthdays, marriages and family links.
• To get a copy of your data, or have it deleted, ask in our support server. We'll handle it within 30 days. Moderation records a server needs for safety may be kept for that server.
• Server owners can remove the bot at any time and ask us to delete their server's data.

Children

Skill is for Discord users, who must be at least 13 (or the minimum age in their country). We don't knowingly collect anything beyond what Discord allows for its users.

Security

Data is stored on a private server and the dashboard is only reachable over HTTPS. Only the bot's developer has access to the database.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. Important changes will be announced in the support server.
